The Stanglwirt White Sausage Party
If you want to conquer the Streif ski run, you need not just courage but also pretty strong legs. That's how the White Sausage Party at the Stanglwirt began, originally a friendly regular event for the daredevil skiers in the Hahnenkamm race. If people could have imagined the size that this legendary party would one day reach, then perhaps even more foolhardy skiers would have gone tearing down probably the most famous ski racing course in the world.
That's why the skiing legends are traditionally centre stage at the White Sausage Party. The Hauser family looks forward every year to welcoming back Franz Klammer, Hias Leitner, Karl Schranz, Fritz Strobl, Stephan Eberharter, Benni Raich, Leonhard Stock and many more to the Lipizzaner riding arena at the Stanglwirt.
Today the White Sausage Party is an exclusive and major fixed event in the packed party calendar for the Kitzbühel race weekend. At exactly 8 o'clock on the Friday evening before the Hahnenkamm race, the host of the Stanglwirt, Balthasar Hauser, declares "Weiß Wurscht is" to let everyone know the sausages are served. With his family and 2500 friends of the hotel in attendance, "the best party at the best hotel in the world" (according to Arnold Schwarzenegger) is now open.
What makes the event special are not only the many famous celebrities from the worlds of sport, entertainment and business, but the warm welcome and the amazing atmosphere. That's because the comfortable family feel of this unique party has been preserved to this day, making the White Sausage Party a truly special event.
The event remains true to the traditions of an authentic alpine cabin party in Kitzbühel, even after a quarter of a century. So the dress code is dirndls and lederhosen and the party guests are happy to oblige. The food and drink have stayed the same, too – even though the number of white sausages multiplies every year. The "king of the white sausage" Toni Holnburger and celebrity chef Alfons Schuhbeck treat the guests to about 8000 champagne sausages, 2000 chilli sausages and 2000 curry sausages.
The programme of entertainment, featuring live appearances by DJ Antoine, Andreas Gabalier, Zucchero, DJ Ötzi, voXXclub, Marc Pircher and many others, has to be seen to be believed. So it's no wonder that countless celebrities have found their way to the party, including:
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ralf Müller, Formula 1 legend Niki Lauda, Bode Miller, Verona Pooth, model Monica Meier-Ivancan, Tobias Moretti, Maxi Brückner, Gregor Bloeb, Nina Proll, social media influencer Caro Daur, Maria Höfl-Riesch with her husband Marcus Höfl, Uschi Glas and Dieter Hermann, actor from the Bergdoktor TV series Hans Sigl, Simone and Sophia Thomalla, Till Lindemann, Alena Gerber, Mariella Ahrens, Regina Halmich, Franziska Knuppe, Werner Baldessarini, Nova Meierhenrich, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Nico Hülkenberg, Countess Stephanie Bruges von Pfuel and many more.
The date for the next White Sausage Party has already been set. We're looking forward to the 27th White Sausage Party on 19 January 2018.
